2021 Texas Crab Festival PRESENTS

The Texas Crab Fest brings together a variety of artists for a Mother’s Day weekend of gulf coast style Music, Art and Crabs on May 7-9, 2021 in Crystal Beach, Texas.


Friday


The Texas Crab Festival is delighted to welcome back the New Ezra Charles Band starting at 7:45pm. One of the most popular piano players in Texas for over 30 years, Ezra Charles has been named by the Houston Press Readers best keyboard player seven times. His musical career began in his hometown of Beaumont at age 14 in the first band organized by Johnny and Edgar Winters. His famous flashy piano antics and artistry, humorous witty personality, and extensive song book along with new material has thrilled audiences from around the world. He has not performed at the Texas Crab Festival since 2014.


The evening is headlined by Louisiana and Gulf Coast Museum’s Hall of Fame member Wayne Toups who takes the stage at 10:00pm. Toups is one of most commercially successful American Cajun Singers of all time with a career highlighted at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in 2013. He returns with his unique brand of Cajun, Zydeco, R&B, and Rock music. Wayne, the Cajun Springsteen, has toured the world to include 26 countries. He has played the New Orleans Jazz Festival for 27 consecutive years. He performed at the 1990 Super Bowl. He always has a home here at Crystal Beach.



Lee Pelly

Local Southeast Texas singer/songwriter Lee Pelly has been doing what he loves for over 20-years. He plays a mixture of all types of music. From Elvis to Dobie Grey, from Tom Petty to Johnny Cash, from Hayes Carll to the Allman Brothers. He is a musician with a love for all music. Lee get things started on Saturday at 12:00 Noon.


You won’t want to miss Andy and the Dreamsicles at 3:15pm with their eclectic music with emphasis on the Classic Rock of the 1970’s. This popular regional band from Clear Lake returns to the Texas Crab Festival after a three-year absence. They were rained out last year. To quote the band, “we rock hard, but we don’t play hard rock.”


George Dearborne

Taking the stage at 5:30pm is George Dearborne and the Branded. They are a country band who travel across Texas and Louisiana to share fantastic toe tapping country music. They have a new album released “Old Brown Bottle”. George began his music career sitting behind a drum kit in the 70’s. He played lead guitar in the 90’s for legendary artists Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty, George Jones, and Hank Williams Jr. He is one of the “Boys from Beaumont “with Mark Chesnutt and Tracey Byrd playing the infamous Cutter’s Bar. Now you can see George Dearborne and the Branded at such Texas Venues at Billy Bobs, Lil Reds Longhorn Saloon in Fort Worth, the 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera and Moes’ Place in Katy.


Hamilton Loomis

Come see the Hamilton Loomis Band at 7:45pm. The group is led by electric blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer Hamilton Loomis. Guitar Player Magazine once stated, “if blues, soul, and rock can be said to form a triangle, you will find Hamilton Loomis right in the center of it”. Hamilton has released his first ever Christmas album that shows off his songwriting and musical chops but also his productions skills. A protégé of Bo Diddley, Loomis has played on stage with the legend and Diddley appeared in two of Loomis’ albums. The Galveston native was a Grammy Award Nominee for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 1995. He was toured the world but is no stranger to the local music scene. His energetic get in the crowd antics are infectious.


Taking the stage at 10:00pm is the Secret Party Band. They feature classic rock and pop hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and today. They are known for their soulful, edgy vocals, and skilled musicians. Members of The Secret Party Band have performed on David Letterman, MTV, and the American Airlines Center Stage, and have opened for Peter Frampton, Eddie Money, James Brown, Gloria Estefan, and more…



Mother’s Day at the Texas Crab Festival begins with ‘Bolivar’s Got Talent’ at 11:30am. Enjoy the musical talents of Crenshaw and High Island students under the direction of Millie Coffee.


Sunday’s band entertainment heats up with Osmosis Jones at 12:45pm. The students from Lamar Port Arthur College are led by Carl Richardson their commercial music instructor. The touring group plays the music of artists such as Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Rihanna, Adele, George Strait, Beyonce, Selena, Chris Young, and Chris Stapleton.


The Band Thick as Thieves is playing at 2:30pm. The group led by Walt Moore is committed to bringing an energetic mix of hit pop, rock, and Motown from the 1960’s through current Top 40; staying true to the original music the way you remember it. Music has a way of taking you back to a time of dancing in your bedroom to your record player, first dance, first kiss, first car, etc. and you can expect Thick As Thieves to deliver that same feeling with hits from bands such as Journey, Jefferson Starship, Warrant, Donna Summer, Kenny Loggins and modern hits from artists such as Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town.


The Texas Crab Festival is thrilled to conclude with Jerry Diaz and Hannah’s Reef at 4:30pm. The son of a merchant marine, Diaz has the nautical spirit and gypsy flair to embody our coastal lifestyle. Influenced by the Beach Boys and the late Jerry Jeff Walker in his teens, Diaz picked up a guitar and set out to entertain folks with his favorite cover songs. From the music of Jimmy Buffet to his own written “beach” songs. Jerry Diaz and Hannah’s Reef are one of Crystal Beach’s favorite local bands.


The Texas Crab Festival is May 7-9, 2021 at Festival Park, located at 1605 Highway 87, Crystal Beach, Texas. All-day admission is $10 Friday, $10 Saturday and FREE on Sunday. Kids 15 and under are always FREE. Parking is also FREE.
